Sparrow wants to change that by offering a product that simply works. Frequently Asked Questions
How does your pricing compare with other similar software?
There are several tools out there that focus on mobile intranets and some that focus on communications. We don’t consider any of these competitors.
We built Sparrow for the XXI century enterprise that needs to not just communicate but understand the effectiveness of that communication, in a way that just works. Just like companies have invested in departmental software (e.g. sales, marketing, customer services, etc.) over the years, we believe that this kind of software is worthy of a greater investment because great corporate communication is the foundation for success at every company, big or small.
Doing the math, Sparrow is 12 cents a day (for a user on our Standard plan). For the money you spend on buying just one employee a chair, a desk, and a laptop, you could have Sparrow for 50 years!
Can I deploy Sparrow to my own datacenter or private cloud?
Yes, you can. Sparrow can be deployed using two models – into your own private cloud or datacenter and by leveraging ours. The decision is yours. Please contact us if you want to deploy Sparrow to your own datacenter.
IT doesn’t have time to implement this – is this a showstopper?
The hosted version can be tested and deployed without IT in a few minutes. Please contact us for a project implementation plan targeted to your needs.
What are the specifications for images in Sparrow?
Image behaviour satisfies these three rules:
- Container is 560 x 375
- Aspect Ratio is always maintained (Picture won’t be squished or stretched in any way)
- Picture will always fill the image container (no whitespace on any side)
- Tall skinny image (56 x 900) will be zoomed in 10x on the centre of the image since we have to widen the image to appear in 560 px of space. The full height of the image is not visible.
- Square image (560 x 560) means users won’t see full height since top there are 92.5 px offscreen on top and bottom
- Short wide image (900 x 75) will be zoomed in 5x on centre since the image is made taller to fill entire vertical space. The full width of the image is not visible
- Oversize but correct aspect ratio image (1120 x 750) will be shrunk w/ factor of 2x. User won’t notice, you’re just wasting their bandwidth
- Undersize but correct aspect ratio image (280 x 188) is going to be pixelated. This should be avoided at all costs
In general, make your images at least as wide as 560, and at least as tall as 375 or you will get pixelation. If the aspect ratio is not 560 x 375, then your users will only see the centre of the image; detail at the edges of the longer side will not be visible.
Security and Privacy
How is information protected within Sparrow?
All data transfer is encrypted — whether users are at their computer or on their phone, absolutely nothing goes over the network without encryption. Sparrow uses 256-bit AES, supports TLS 1.2 for all of your messages, and uses the ECDHE_RSA Key Exchange Algorithm. We monitor the security community’s output closely and work promptly to upgrade the service to respond to new vulnerabilities as they are discovered.
Where are your data centers hosted?
Our servers are located in Microsoft’s Azure data centers. You can read more about Microsoft’s data centers here.
What is Sparrow’s approach to data privacy?
What type of Service Level Agreement (SLA) do you offer?
We offer teams using our Plus plan an SLA that guarantees 99.99% monthly uptime. If we don’t meet this guarantee, we’ll refund you 100x whatever you paid Sparrow for that period of downtime.
